Ahead of the commencement of the Monsoon Session of the Parliament, the former Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Sunday wrote a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla asking the House to acknowledge the martyrdom of farmers, who died during the protest against the farm laws. "As you are aware, the farmers and farm labourers, who are righty called the annadata of the country - have been agitating through peaceful, democratic means against three Acts popularly known as Farm Acts which threaten their very survival," Harsimrat Kaur Badal wrote in a letter to Om Birla. "This gesture is absolutely necessary so that when the history of this period is written by and for the coming generations of our countrymen, they do not judge us guilty of forgetting and showing insensitivity towards martyrs who belonged to a section of our society which has always ensured that no countryman sleeps on a hungry stomach," she concluded. The Monsoon Session of the Parliament will commence on July 19. -PTC News
