MP Dhesi from the UK meets Minister Sampla again for direct London to Amritsar flights Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi MP (Slough, UK) described his meeting with Indian Minister Vijay Sampla MP in New Delhi as very positive. He presented to him the finalised proposal for direct Air India flights between London Heathrow Airport and Amritsar Airport. MP Dhesi said “Minister Sampla assured me of his continued full backing for this proposal and organised another meeting with Indian Civil Aviation Minister Jayant Sinha MP. I thanked him for his time and for his support in convincing Mr Sinha and other colleagues last year (during our meetings in the Indian Parliament) to initiate direct flights from Birmingham Airport to Amritsar. The Punjabi diaspora, prominent individuals and organisations such as Amritsar Vikas Manch, have been demanding for several years for direct flights between Amritsar and the UK to be recommenced. This matter seemed to have been put into cold storage, but I’m now hopeful that with this concerted high level campaign over the last year, we will finally achieve full success”.
