Senior Mumbai police officer Himanshu Roy commits suicide
Senior IPS officer Himanshu Roy committed suicide by shooting himself in Mumbai on Friday afternoon.Doctors at Bombay Hospital confirmed his death.
“He was brought dead an hour ago. He shot himself. His body is in the casualty,” said Dr Gautam Bhansali.
Roy, who was Maharashtra’s additional director general (housing). He gained recognition during the time he headed the Mumbai crime branch and the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).
Roy shot himself with his service revolver at his home in south Mumbai. Roy had been suffering from cancer.
