Nagpur: Man thrashed and paraded naked for trying to rape 4-year-old

In a major incident, a 35-year-old man was paraded naked on Sunday evening, by the locals for trying to rape a four-year-old at her house in Pardi area of Nagpur in Maharashtra, police said. The accused has been identified as Jawahar Vaidya, who was thrashed by the locals. He was tied with a rope and paraded naked on the streets before handing him over to the police.

The accused worked as a daily cash collection agent for a co-operative society bank in the city. He used to visit the house of the minor girl everyday for collecting cash. After finding the girl alone on Sunday, the man tried to sexually assault her. However, the girl’s mother returned home and raised an alarm, after which the neighbours rushed to the spot.

Meanwhile, the locals gathered at the spot and thrashed the accused before handing him to the local police. A case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Pardi police station.
