The foundation stone of the memorial was laid by PM Modi on March 21, 2016. The memorial has been given the shape of a book. A meditation hall has also been created at the memorial. Toran Dwars, a Bodhi Tree, a musical fountain, and facade lighting are other important elements of the memorial, a statement said. The PM's remarks came in the wake of widespread violent protests following a Supreme Court verdict that allegedly diluted the provisions of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 to prevent the misuse of the law. -PTC News
