Armed robbers attack three on stabbing spree in east Delhi, one killed
Stabbing spree in east Delhi: Three robbers armed with knives attacked three people separately in northeast Delhi's Welcome area, killing one of the victims. The other two were injured, police said on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as a 32-year-old man named Gurfan.
Officials said they received three calls about stabbings at the Welcome police station between 11.30 p.m. on Friday and 1.02 a.m. on Saturday.
Sher Mohammad (25) of Welcome's Janta Mazdoor Colony was stabbed in the abdomen, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Jou Tirkey, who added that the man managed to rescue himself by hiding inside a house.
The second call arrived around 12:20 a.m. Gurfan, a resident of the same colony, was stabbed in the back, according to the DCP.
He said Gurfan died as a result of his injuries and that his phone was taken away.
Sharik (22), another resident of the Janta Mazdoor Colony, was stabbed in the neck. According to authorities, he escaped and saved himself.
According to the DCP, two of the assailants have been apprehended: Kapil Chaudhary (25) and Sohail (22).
Chaudhary has a history of criminal conduct, having been arrested in 2021 for attempted murder and again in 2022 for stabbing. He was released from prison three months ago. Tirkey stated that the looted phone and a blood-stained knife were found in his possession.
He identified the third accused as Sameer.
When the three of them were drinking together, they devised a plan to rob some people. According to authorities, they were carrying knives bought lately in the Ballimaran area.
According to them, a case has been registered under sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 392 (penalty for robbery), 397 (robbery or dacoity with an attempt to inflict death or grievous hurt), and 34 (common intention) of the IPC.
Attempts are being made to find Sameer. He was previously involved in illegal activities and was arrested for robbery under the provisions of the Arms Act in 2022, according to authorities.
