Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim's 40-day parole ends; back to Rohtak jail
Rohtak, November 25: Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim reached Sunaria Jail in Rohtak after his 40-day parole ended on Friday. He was out on parole since October 15. Heavy security was deployed in the vicinity of the jail.
During the parole, Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim stayed in an ashram located in Barwana, Baghpat district of UP, and remained active on social media. Along with online satsang, he also interacted with followers. On handing over 'Guru Gaddi' to Honeypreet, Gurmeet Ram Rahim made it clear that he would continue to remain dera head.

It is learnt that before returning to the jail, Gurmeet Ram Rahim released in third song on 'Chat pe galbaat'. In the song, he highlighted the side effects of excess use of mobile and other electronics gadgets.
Notably, Gurmeet Ram Rahim was released from Sunaria jail in Rohtak on a 40-day parole on October 15. He is serving a 20-year jail term after being convicted in 2017 of raping two disciples in his Sirsa ashram. In 2019, he was convicted of the murder of a journalist and in 2021 he was convicted of the murder of a manager of his dera.
Advocate HC Arora had, however, filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking the cancellation of his parole. The plea was dismissed as withdrawn by the High Court. While hearing the case, the Punjab and Haryana High Court questioned the maintainability of this PIL and asked "how can a petition against a person be considered as a public interest litigation".
The High Court directed the Haryana Government to dispose of Advocate HC Arora's representation.
