Haryana: Curfew relaxed in violence-hit Nuh district; schools reopen

Nuh (Haryana), August 11: Educational institutions in Nuh reopened on Friday after a period of closure due to violent incidents. The district administration has announced a relaxation of the curfew from 7 am to 3 pm for the day.

Ravinder Jain, Principal of Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary School, mentioned that some primary section students had returned to school, but students in higher grades were still absent. He said the students participating in the upcoming August 15 programme had also started coming. He appreciated this decision by the administration.

Nuh District Magistrate Dhirendra Khadgata issued an order lifting the curfew from 7 am to 3 pm (for 8 hours only) on August 11. A separate order was also issued regarding the operation of banks.

Violence erupted in Nuh district following clashes between two groups triggered by an attack on a religious procession passing through the area. This led to two home guards losing their lives and numerous casualties, including about 20 injured policemen, during the ensuing chaos.

The district magistrate's directive further states that anyone found violating the curfew will face penalties under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code and other applicable regulations. The Superintendent of Police in Nuh is responsible for ensuring the proper enforcement of these orders.
