New Delhi: Multiple ‘mock drills' will be conducted today to test the preparedness of hospitals to deal with the surge in Covid-19 cases in India. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that all state health ministers will participate in the 'mock drill' to be conducted in all Covid hospitals across the country as a precaution amid the rise in cases of infection in China and other countries.

Meanwhile, amid rising fears of Covid in China, the Center has asked all states and Union Territories to conduct mock drills at all health facilities including Covid centers across the country on Tuesday (December 27). Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, in a letter written to all states and Union Territories, said that in view of the increase in the number of Covid cases in many countries of the world, it is necessary that all States/Union Territories take necessary public health measures.
The center has said that during this exercise, the bed capacity of hospitals such as isolation beds, oxygen supported isolation beds, ICU beds and beds with ventilator support will be checked.
