PTC News Desk: The trainee doctor who was raped and killed at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital was choked to death, according to the postmortem report. The four-page report stated that she had been strangled and that "perverted sexuality" and "genital torture" had resulted in a serious wound in her privates. Her thyroid cartilage was also shattered.

Per sources, the rape and murder happened on August 9 most likely between 3 and 5 a.m.

Her lips, fingers, left leg, and tummy were all covered with injuries. According to sources, the woman was restrained from yelling by having her lips and nose squeezed shut and having her head pressed up against a wall.

The accused's fingernails are thought to have left scratch scars on the woman's face, suggesting that the victim made a valiant attempt to defend herself.

"On keep from shouting, pressure was applied on the mouth and throat all the time. To suffocate, the throat was strangled. The postmortem report stated that strangling caused the thyroid cartilage to break.

The woman was bleeding from her mouth, eyes, and private areas, according to the report. Her eye wound's cause hasn't been identified, yet.

On Friday morning, the post-graduate trainee's body was discovered in the lecture room of the government-run hospital in West Bengal. Sanjoy Roy, a Kolkata Police civic volunteer, has been detained in relation to the case.

Roy had access to every department as he was based at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital police outpost. Based on CCTV evidence that showed him entering the premises where the doctor was found killed, he was taken into custody on Saturday.

Doctors and nurses are spearheading rallies in Kolkata and other Indian cities in response to the murder, which has provoked widespread indignation. Sandip Ghosh, the principal of RG Kar Medical College, has also tendered his resignation.

Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, issued a severe warning to the Kolkata police, threatening to hand over the case to the CBI if the police could not solve it by Sunday.
