Modi surname case: High Court directs no coercive action against Rahul Gandhi
Modi surname case: Jharkhand High Court on Tuesday directed no coercive action against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the PM Modi surname case. The next hearing has been scheduled for August 16.
A BJP activist filed a defamation action against Rahul Gandhi in Ranchi civil court. The remarks in question were made by Rahul Gandhi during a Congress party gathering in 2018, where he remarked, "Only in the BJP can a murderer become party president. It's not possible in Congress."
Two defamation cases were filed against Rahul Gandhi in civil court, however, they were eventually transferred to the Jharkhand High Court when the lower court issued a warrant against him. The high court granted Rahul Gandhi relief by imposing a "no coercive action" order, which is still in effect.
