Record showers sweep Delhi-NCR; air quality slightly improves, GRAP Stage III revoked

PTC News Desk: As rain continued to lash parts of Delhi-NCR on Saturday, a sharp drop in the temperature has been recorded. The temperature plunged by 13 degree celcius. Amid persistent rain, the air quality of the national capital has also improved.

"Delhi's air quality has shifted from the 'severe' category to the 'poor' range. As a result, measures under Stage III, implemented earlier, are now being withdrawn," the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in NCR and adjoining areas said in a statement.

Citizens have also been urged to follow GRAP's Citizen Charter to sustain the improvement.

The panel reiterated its commitment to monitoring the situation closely. "We are keeping a watchful eye on air quality and will take additional measures if necessary," the CAQM assured.

The Indian Meterological Department has issued a yellow alert for the weekend with 'light rain/ thunderstorms' forecast. According to the weather department, the active western disturbance and its interaction with easterly winds have caused the heavy rainfall across northwest and central India.

The constant rainfall is likely to keep the temperature low for the weekend.
