Yamuna in spate in Delhi: Kejriwal convenes emergency meeting, traffic police issue advisory

New Delhi, July 12: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday convened an emergency meeting as the water level in Yamuna reached its highest-ever level at 207.55 metres. The water level in Yamuna has breached a 44-year record, officials said.

Kejriwal has also written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and said limited quantity of water should be released from Hathnikund so that the water level of Yamuna does not increase further.

"G20 summit is to be held in Delhi so if a flood happens in Delhi, it won't send a good message to the world," Kejriwal added.

Meanwhile, parts of the national capital are witnessing waterlogging amid heavy rainfall. In the wake of this, Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory, providing commuters with information on the waterlogged areas and alternate routes.
