Yamuna water level in Delhi crosses ‘warning’ mark after heavy rains
Yamuna water level increases: Owing to heavy rainfall in parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand for the last two days, the water level in the Yamuna in Delhi breached ‘warning’ mark on Tuesday.
The water level of the Yamuna River increased, reaching 204.94 m at Old Railway Bridge on 6 pm, said Central Water Commission (CWC).
According to the CWC, Yamuna's water level reached 204.57 meters at 3 p.m. in Delhi. The 'warning' level is 204.5 m.
The Central Water Commission (CWC) predicts that the level would increase to 205 m by 5 a.m. on Wednesday. This is, however, less than the 205.33 m 'danger' level.
A month earlier, severe rains in the river's catchment area caused flooding in various districts of the national capital. On July 13, the Yamuna in Delhi reached its highest-ever recorded flood level of 208.66 m.
