National Green Tribunal orders all Brick kilns to shut down in Punjab for four months
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) and Punjab Pollution control board (PPCB) have asked all the brick kilns to shut down starting from October 1, 2018, to January 31, 2019, to control air pollution level during winters.

The appellate authority constituted under the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 gave the orders.

Appellate authority and principal secretary of science and technology department, Rakesh Kumar Verma told the media sources that there were multiple sources of air pollution. Plus, the board has not laid down any mechanism to assess the impact solely due to bricks kilns.
