India’s COVID-19 tally has crossed the 69 lakh-mark with a spike of 70,496 new cases and 964 new coronavirus deaths reported in the last 24 hours, as of Friday morning.
The total number of coronavirus cases has increased to 69,06,152 out of which 8,93,592 are active cases, 59,06,070 have been cured, and discharged while 1,06,490 COVID patients have died so far due to the pandemic, the Union Health Ministry said in a statement.
The Union Health Ministry on Friday said that new COVID-19 recoveries in India have exceeded the new cases for 3 continuous weeks, unabated. The new cases during these 3 weeks have displayed a steady trend of decline, it added.
“This is the result of collaborative action done by States/UTs under the Centre’s strategy of comprehensive testing, tracking, quick hospitalization, and adherence to Standard Treatment Protocol,” the Health Ministry said.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked people to unite in a fight against coronavirus. “Let us #Unite2FightCorona! Let us always remember: Wear a mask. Wash hands. Follow social distancing. Practice ‘Do Gaj Ki Doori.’ Together, we will succeed. Together, we will win against COVID-19.”
“India’s COVID-19 fight is people-driven and gets great strength from our COVID warriors. Our collective efforts have helped saved many lives. We have to continue the momentum and protect our citizens from the virus,” he added.
Union Health Minister welcomed the ‘Unite to fight corona’ initiative. He said, “Heartfelt gratitude to Narendra Modi Ji for this thunderous call for a Jan Andolan against COVID-19.”
“Bharat is proud and privileged to have a prudent leader like you. The country will stand together to answer your call in making #Unite2FightCorona movement a runaway success!”
