New Zealand vs India 3rd T20 Super Over: After tying the score in the third T20I of the 5-match T20 series, India defeated New Zealand in a Super Over match at Seddon Park, Hamilton, on Wednesday. It was the first Super Over match of this year and it was nail-biting match. India has created history by winning a maiden T20 series in New Zealand. Likewise, the hosts were not able to stop the winning streak of Team India.

Super Over:

For India, Jasprit Bumrah held the ball, while New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson, who had scored 95 runs in the match, and Martin Guptill came on the crease. In Super Over, Kane Williamson smashed one boundary and one six, while Martin Guptill managed to smash a single boundary. New Zealand gave India a target of 18 runs.

While chasing 18 runs, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul came on the crease, while for Kiwis, Tim Southee was given the responsibilty of bowling. Rohit Sharma did it again! While India needed 10 off just 2 balls in a super over match, Hitman smashed two consecutive sixes to seal the victory and the series. 

For New Zealand Kane Williamson smahed 95 runs off 48 balls, and Ross Taylor 17 runs off 10 balls. However, both Williamson and Taylor went back to the pavilion. Black Caps were on the stage when Kiwis needed 1 run of 1 balls, but the team wasn’t able to make it. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma was named the man of the match for his magnificent innings during the match and in Super Over as well.

After powering India to win, Rohit Sharma said that “Super Over is always fun. This was my first Super Over, I have always been part but played for the first time. I had no idea how to start whether to take single or go for it. KL Rahul & I decided that we’ve to swing from the first ball.” Now, India will take on New Zealand in the fourth T20 match at Westpac Stadium, Wellington on January 31.
