Nifty hits record high of 10,500, calling it for Early Christmas celebration: Calling for early Christmas, 50-share Nifty touches a life-time high of 10,500 along with the BSE Smallcap and Nifty Midcap indices at new highs too. The benchmark index has moved up 31.4 per cent since last Christmas, as Nifty hits record high. The 30-share Sensex was trading 165.85 points higher at 33,922.13, technology, oil and banking & financial stocks, during the final trading hours, just ahead of the market closing. Nilesh Shah of Kotak AMC said that some catalyst will be required to push laggards in 2018. He added there is still room for earnings recovery and markets will be driven by more consumer-related things here on. He believes that infrastructure and rural sectors will be supported by government spending. “While there is frenzy in many asset classes, we are yet to see frenzy in Indian equity markets,” he said.
