Night curfew back in Goa; schools & colleges shut till January 26

Panaji: Amid a sudden spike in Covid-19 and new variant Omicron cases, the Goa Government on Monday announced the closure of schools and colleges till January 26. This was stated by Dr Shekhar Salkar, a member of the Goa Government's task force for Covid management. A night curfew from 11 pm to 6 am will also be imposed and the orders are likely to be issued by tonight. "Schools and colleges will remain closed in Goa till January 26 amid the uptick in Covid-19 and Omicron cases. Classes will be conducted online during the period," said Dr Shekhar Salkar. A meeting of the state government's taskforce on Covid management was held . The task force is chaired by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. The task force would meet again to review the situation a couple of days before January 26. The official also said a night curfew would be imposed in Goa soon from 11 pm to 6 am. "The government is also imposing a night curfew from 11 pm to 6 am. A formal order will follow tonight or tomorrow. Restrictions will also be imposed on indoor functions," he added.
