Nilgai spotted outside a popular mall in Noida, amid coronavirus lockdown

Noida: As the nation continues to observe 21-day lockdown, declared by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in an order to contain the coronavirus, a Nilgai was spotted outside The Great India Place mall in Noida on Friday. It appears that the faunae are arriving in the now-silent areas where they were scared to step in earlier because of the chaos created by the human presence.

Nilgai roaming on roads

The blue antelope (Nilgai) was spotted roaming on empty roads of Sector 38A in Noida. This was the area that was one of the busiest places in Noida before the lockdown. However, only dogs and other animals were seen barking on an unwanted guest on the street. This shows the support of people for lockdown announced by PM Narendra Modi.

Unintended positive impacts of lockdown

The lockdown due to coronavirus spread has, meanwhile, resulted in some unintended improvements such as air quality in major cities that have recorded a significant improvement as vehicles remain off roads. Likewise, birds can be heard chirping at some places. According to SAFAR, the air quality in Noida stood in the’ satisfactory’ category on Friday with very low levels of polluting particles than the usual days before lockdown.

Society in Noida to be placed under lockdown

In another major development in Noida, the District Magistrate (DM) BN Singh has ordered to shut down the Paras Tiera residential society located in Sector 137 after reports confirmed two positive cases of coronavirus in the society. In an order to avoid the spread of the coronavirus, the two-day lockdown has started at 2 pm on March 27, 2020, and will continue till 10 am on March 29, 2020.
