Northeast Delhi Violence: The death toll in the violence-hit northeast Delhi has surged to nine on Tuesday. Giving information, Sunil Kumar, Medical Superintendent of Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, stated that “Today 4 persons have been brought dead, yesterday five people lost their lives. The death toll has risen to nine.”
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik paid tribute to Delhi Police Head Constable Rattan Lal who lost his life during the clashes in northeast Delhi on Monday. Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik had even said that the Head Constable Rattan Lal has made a sacrifice for the nation.
“We are proud of his sacrifice. We stand with his family, he added. Earlier on Tuesday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia met those who have been injured in Delhi violence and have been admitted at GTB hospital.
Delhi CM had also said that “The entire country was worried about the violence that took place in Delhi in the past two days. There has been a loss of lives and properties. If violence increased it would affect everyone.”
Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court has agreed to hear tomorrow the petition regarding violence held in Maujpur, Jaffrabad and adjoining area of North-east Delhi. The petition seeks the constitution of an SIT consisting of officers from outside Delhi and direction to the Centre to request the Army to maintain law and order.
Special CP Satish Golcha in Delhi’s Khajuri Khaas said that “We will be detaining the miscreants and taking legal action against them. People should cooperate with us to maintain peace. We are here till the situation normalises else we deploy more forces.”
