3 firemen injured in a violence-hit northeast Delhi

As northeast Delhi witnessed clashes between pro and anti-CAA groups, three firemen were injured while Delhi Fire Service attended to 45 calls from the violence-hit area, a senior fire department official said on Tuesday. The official stated that the department received around 45 calls and while attending those, a group pelted stones to a fire tender while another one was torched by the agitators. He added that three firemen were injured in an incident. The violence over the amended citizenship law broke out in Maujpur and Jaffrabad areas on Monday with protestors torching houses, shops, vehicles, and a petrol pump, besides stone-pelting. Likewise, an incident of fire was reported at a tyre market in Karawal Nagar on Tuesday at around 8.24 AM but the fire department was not able to reach the spot, as they haven't received police protection yet. Vehicles were set on fire in Karawal Nagar on Sunday as well. A head constable was among five people killed while at least 105 got injured. Delhi Police sources have revealed that a man, Shahrukh, in a red t-shirt who opened fire at police during the violence in Northeast Delhi yesterday, has been detained. Meanwhile, a meeting was held by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah late last night with senior Delhi Police officers and the top Home Ministry officials on the law and order situation in the national capital. Delhi Police was quoted by ANI as saying: "The situation is very tense. We are continuously receiving calls related to the incidents of violence from Northeast Delhi.
