Omicron: Punjab Health Minister reviews Covid-19 situation

Night curfew in Punjab? Amid rising cases of Omicron variant in India, the Health Minister OP Soni on Tuesday reviewed the Covid-19 situation of Punjab.

On plans to impose night curfew in Punjab, OP Soni denied all the rumours and said that there was no plan to impose night curfew in the state. He said that there was no active case of Covid-19 variant Omicron in Punjab yet. Meanwhile, he urged people to adhere to Covid Appropriate Behaviour.

Recently, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi had said that the Covid-19 threat was real. He also said that the Punjab government did not intend to impose any restrictions for now.

“There is Covid-19 threat and I want to make an appeal to people to be careful,” he said, adding that "no Covid restrictions as of now."

According to the Union Health Ministry, a total of 653 cases of Omicron variant of coronavirus have been reported in the country so far. Out of this, Maharashtra topped the list with 167 cases followed by Delhi with 165 cases, Kerala with 57 cases and Telangana has confirmed 55 cases.

A total of 6,358 new COVID-19 cases were reported in India in the last 24 hours, taking the active caseload in the country to 75,456, informed the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday.
