Padmavati’ and ‘Padman’ to hit the silver screen on the same day!
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's most awaited but controversial film Padmavati may hit the theatres on the same day as ‘Padman’ hits the silver screen. Akshay is looking forward to the release of the films and said hopefully both the movies would do well during the holiday weekend.
Padmavati was to be released on December 1 but could not make it on scheduled date due to the ongoing controversy on its plot. Now it’s been finally given a green flag by the censor board. According to Grapevine the producers had chosen January 25 for the release.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) recently gave U/A certification along with some modifications and suggested to change its title to 'Padmavat'.
Asked about his reaction on the possible clash of the two films, Akshay said, "It is not about competition, it is a very big day, a big week, so all the films can come. Both the films can release on that day.
Akshay said that the producers of the film had every right to release the film on the date of their choice. Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Sanjay Leela Bhansali Productions are yet to announce the official release date of the film.
Akshay's "Padman" co-star, Sonam Kapoor said she would wait for an official announcement from the team of "Padmavati". Sonam said, "It is not announced officially, isn't it? If it is, it is good. There is a need for competition when it comes to films and its high time that the film releases.
Akshay and Sonam were promoting their film on Zee Marathi's 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Ghe Panga Kar Danga'.
