Padmavati Protest: Body hung from Jaipur fort, note says ‘we don’t behead, but hang’

In a shocking incident,  the protests over Bollywood film ‘Padmavati’ has taken a deadlier turn as a body was found hanging from Nahargarh Fort in Jaipur, Rajasthan on Friday.

A death note has been found written on a rock alongside the body, which read: “We don’t behead, but hang”.

The Rajasthan Police is looking at it as a murder case, but have not been able to connect it to Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie.

Padmavati, starring Deepika Padukone in the title role, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, is a joint production by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Bhansali Productions has been under controversies for a while now.

Many groups have been protesting amid rumours that there was a romantic dream sequence between Rajput queen Padmini and Allauddin Khilji. However, Bhansali said in an appeal that there was no dream sequence and it was all a rumour.

Earlier scheduled to arrive in cinema halls on December 1, the release date of the film has now been postponed.
