Pakistan MP Maulana Salahuddin Ayubi marries 14-year-old girl from Balochistan

Pakistan Police has started an investigation into the marriage of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) leader Maulana Salahuddin Ayubi with a 14-year-old girl. Ayubi is a member of the National Assembly (MNA) from Balochistan. As per the report, Maulana Salahuddin Ayubi was elected to the National Assembly as JUI-F leader from constituency NA-263 (Kila Abdullah). Meanwhile, an investigation has started on the basis of a complaint registered by an NGO working for the welfare of women in Chitral. In an application, Anjuman Dawat-o-Azeemat alleged that the news of the underage girl’s marriage with Salahuddin Ayubi from Balochistan had gone viral on social media. According to the police, the girl is a student of Government Girls High School, Jughoor. Her date of birth mentioned at the school is October 28, 2006, which means that she has not attained the legal age of marriage, a report stated. Pakistan Police started investigation into marriage of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) leader Maulana Salahuddin Ayubi. The SHO Chitral police station, Sajjad Ahmed, reportedly said that police visited the girl in the Daroosh area of Chitral a few days ago on the basis of a complaint filed by an organisation. However, the girl's father had denied his daughter’s marriage. Reportedly, a proper marriage ceremony has not been organised yet.
