Pan Am Games Lima 2019: Canada records a fluent 5-1 win over Mexico in men's hockey

On a day when sports persons of Indian origin made their appearance in the Pan Am Games Lima 2019, Canada started with a bang in men's hockey competition with a fluent 5-1 win over Mexico. Four of Canadian players - Sukhpal Panesar, Balraj Panesar, Brandon Pereira and Keegan Pereira - were all in action in the first game. Keegan Pereira scored fifth and last goal for his team. In the last game scheduled for the day, when USA will take on the host Peru, a few other players of Indian origin, including Ajai. Mohan Gandhi and Parmeet Singh will take the field. Scott Tupper, who was the flag bearer for canada at the opening ceremony, marshalled his men well though his own flick of the first penalty corner went past the goal without a result.Oliver William Schofield  and Mark Pearson with a brace each  and  Keegan Pereira were the scorers for canada while Francisco Montoya reduced the margin for Mexico. Earlier, defending champions and Olympic champions Argentina had little difficulty in disposing off Chile 5-1 while Cuba overcame a stiff resistance from Trinidad and Tobago before emerging winner at 3-2.
