Parkash Singh Badal hits out at Congress for betraying people of Punjab.
In an attempt to reach out to the peasants of Punjab, Former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Monday attacked the Captain Amarinder Singh led Congress government saying that it has betrayed the farmers of the Punjab.
Addressing a gathering at Sri Mukatsar Sahib on the occasion of Maghi, former CM Parkash Singh Badal listed out the achievements of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Bhartiya Janata party (BJP) of their ten years tenure.
Parkash Singh Badal said, “ SAD-BJP has worked for the people of Punjab but all the development works started during our tenure has been stopped. All the welfare schemes like atta dal scheme, old-age pension, and shagun started by SAD have come to a grinding halt. Present, Congress government is an anti-people government.
Accusing congress for 1984 anti Sikh genocide, Parkash Singh Badal said “The Congress has exploited religious sentiments. It was involved in shielding riots perperators and is now rewarding those people with the post of CM who were involved in the 1984 anti-Sikh genocide”
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) rally at Sri Mukatsar Sahib on the occasion of Maghi got an overwhelming response on Monday. Senior SAD-BJP leaders were present at the conference.People arrived in buses, tractor trolleys, cars and motorcycles whereas many were seen riding on the rooftops of the buses.
The Maghi Mela has religious significance for the Sikhs and is one of the major fairs as it. The Maghi fair is held to honour the memory of the forty Sikh warriors who laid their lives during the Battle of Muktsar in 1705. Muktsar was originally called as Khidrana. It was named as Muktsar, following the battle. Every year on the occasion of Maghi Mela, parties hold their political conferences.
