Patiala chaatwala raided, tax officials say he earns over Rs 1.2 crore Patiala’s famous chaatwala-cum-caterer on Thursday surrendered undisclosed income of Rs 1.20 crore to the income tax department. The owner of the chaat business will have to pay income tax of nearly 52 lakhs, based on the disclosure. The I-T department teams raided the premises and found huge investments in immovable property in addition to his undisclosed income. The owner has constructed two party halls. He charges between Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 3 lakh to serve chaats at an event. I-T official, who was part of the raiding team said, “The owner had not filed IT returns for the past two years. After conducting a discreet survey, tracing the footfall at his shop and monitoring his supplies to other shops and marriages, we raided his Focal Point shop and found that he had made investments running into lakhs in real estate.” Also Read: Rs 100-Cr Scam: 7 Gurugram ETOs Chargesheeted for Bogus Tax Refunds Another official said, “In our survey, we have found that famous eateries are making huge money but not paying taxes according to their income.
