Patiala: Punjabi University students bar entry of Congress leaders

In a major development, the students have completely barred the entry of Congress leaders in Punjabi University in protest against the hike in fee and the government's reluctance to provide grants. Four organizations at the Punjabi University — PSU, AISF, SFI, and DSO — under the umbrella of United Students Front (USF) staged a protest at Punjabi University, Patiala, and even chanted anti-government slogans. With pamphlets and a poster in hand, the students said that if any Congress leader entered the university, he would be surrounded and strongly opposed. The protesting student leaders said that there has been a huge hike in fee structure. They further said that this will led to the privatization of the university. They have been demanding the rollback of the fee hike. The posters include pictures of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, PPCC president Navjot Singh Sidhu, MP Preneet Kaur, Tript Rajinder Bajwa, and other Congress leaders. -PTC News
