PB CM Hands Over Eligibility Certificates To Beneficiaries Under Mahatma Gandhi Sarbat Vikas Yojna Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday gave away eligibility certificates to beneficiaries under the Mahatma Gandhi Sarbat Vikas Yojna (MGSVY) at a district level camp here with the aim of taking the government’s welfare schemes to the deserving members of the society. More than 1500 beneficiaries today attended the camp and got themselves enrolled under MGSVY to avail the benefits of various schemes. Divulging the details of the total beneficiaries so far assisted under MGSVY, Captain Amarinder Singh said that nearly nine lakh beneficiaries had been guided to avail the benefits of welfare schemes. Henceforth, District Level camps under Mahatma Gandhi Sarbat Vikas Yojna would be organised on the 20th of every month to assist the beneficiaries. Captain amarinder Singh Captain Amarinder Singh said that to ensure effective implementation of the programme, the Rural Development Department and his office would regularly monitor its progress. Addressing a gathering here at the local Government Girls College, Captain Amarinder Singh said that the aim of this scheme was to reach out to the disadvantaged sections of the society so that the benefits of the various schemes could be provided to them, thus enabling holistic development of the state. Job letters The Chief Minister pointed out that the programme was launched in December 2017 with a door-to-door survey conducted in some districts, followed by camps for clusters of villages till August 2018. Camps were subsequently held in all Districts and sub divisional level on October 2 to identify the eligible beneficiaries to be covered under different schemes. Giving details about the criteria of the scheme, the Chief Minister said that the scheme would cover the families having residents of Punjab with annual income not more than Rs. 60,000 or land not more than 2.5 acres. The scheme would ensure the benefits of various schemes namely Atta-Dal, MGNREGA job cards, Ghar-Ghar Rozgar Yojna, LPG Connections under Ujjwala Yojna, Free Electricity and Drinking Water Connection, Pensions including old age/widow/differently-abled/dependants, subsidised LED lights under Ujala Yojna and Toilets for all. Earlier, local Member Parliament Ravneet Singh Bittu, in his address, thanked the Chief Minister for fulfilling another promise of his Government. He said that this scheme would go a long way to help the needy and eligible beneficiaries. Prominent amongst those present on the occasion were Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Media Advisor to CM Raveen Thukral, MLAs Surinder Dawar, Sanjay Talwar, Kuldeep Singh Vaid, Mayor Ludhiana Balkar Singh Sandhu, Special Principal Secretary to CM Gurkirat Kirpal Singh and Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Pradeep Kumar Agrawal. -PTC NEWS
