PC Mody replaces Ramacharyulu as Rajya Sabha Secretary-General
Former chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) PC Mody on Friday took over as the Secretary-General of the Rajya Sabha. PC Mody has replaced PPK Ramacharyulu, whose appointment was made less than three months ago. Also read | Punjabi made compulsory for all students from Classes I to 10 in Punjab Mody was appointed as the Secretary-General in place of PPK Ramacharyulu by Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu earlier in the day. "Rajya Sabha Chairman has been pleased to appoint Pramod Chandra Mody, IRS (retd) and former chairman, Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), as Secretary-General, Rajya Sabha, in the rank and status of Cabinet Secretary," an official communication issued by the Rajya Sabha Secretariat said. The Winter Session of Parliament is expected to commence from November 29. Meanwhile, in another notification, the Rajya Sabha Secretariat said Ramacharyulu had been relieved of his charge from the forenoon of November 12. -PTC News
