In a span of 22 days, the price of petrol has increased to Rs 9.17 per litre while the diesel price has gone up by Rs 11.4 per litre. Meanwhile, Union petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that the recent hike in petrol and diesel prices has not impacted the common man, a report said. Defending the recent hike in fuel prices amid nationwide protest by Congress, Pradhan said that the nation and global economy was going through a challenging time. He also said that it has this crisis has impacted the demand and supply of fuel across the world. Further, Pradhan said that there was 70 percent downfall in the demand for fuels in April and May due to coronavirus lockdown.
