Pfizer withdraws application for emergency use for its COVID-19 vaccine in India
The US-based pharma company Pfizer has withdrawn its application for emergency-use authorization of its COVID-19 vaccine in India, a report stated on Friday. On Wednesday, the company participated in an expert committee meeting of the Drug Regulatory Authority of India (DCGI) after which it decided to withdraw its application for emergency-use application. Pfizer had applied for the emergency use authorization for its COVID-19 vaccine in India to DGCI on December 6. Pfizer will continue to engage with the authority and resubmit its application with additional information as it becomes available as it remains committed to making its vaccine available for use by the government of India. The United Kingdom was the first country in the world to administer the vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech.
