PM candidate to be decided after poll results: Congress. The Congress on Friday said that the issue of prime ministership would be decided after the poll. In order to defeat BJP in the 2019 General Election, Congress is of the view that firming up alliances in UP, Bihar and Maharashtra is crucial if PM Narendra Modi is to be ousted. “A broad strategic understanding between the SP, BSP and the Congress in Uttar Pradesh, which sends 80 MPs to the Lok Sabha, has been struck and details of seat-sharing are being worked out,” a top Congress leader said. “We will give priority to the views of our state units — like their take on AAP in Punjab and Delhi — and won’t ally with parties like the Shiv Sena which are ideologically at variance with the Congress,” party sources said. Sources said the Congress was looking at a two-stage action plan — first bring on board all Opposition parties to defeat the BJP and the RSS and then take up the leadership issue on the basis of the election outcome. Meanwhile, there is a speculations taking over as to who will contest the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seat currently held by Sonia Gandhi — she or daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. -PTC News
