Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated India’s youngest ever Grandmaster D Gukesh on Friday. He won the title at Delhi International Chess Grandmaster Open held on January 15. Narendra Modi called him "champion of chess" and lauded him for his achievement.

The chess prodigy started playing chess as an extracurricular activity at an age of seven. What started off as an extracurricular activity soon turned into a passion.
