PM Modi Promises Central Aid to Tackle Flood Situation in Punjab

PM Modi Promises Central Aid to Tackle Flood Situation in Punjab Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured central aid to tackle food situation in Punjab on Wednesday. PM and Punjab’s Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had a conversation over the phone about the flood situation in Punjab following which the PM Modi promises central assistance over the issue. Captain Amarinder Singh briefed the Prime Minister about the whole situation. He told the Prime Minister that he had toured the worst-hit districts of Kapurthala and Tarn Taran and there had been a significant damage to crops in areas around the banks of Beas River. He also told the Prime Minister that he has ordered a special survey to evaluate the losses and it is only possible once the water recedes. After enquiring about the whole situation, PM Modi promised all possible central assistance in mitigating the losses. The CM told Modi that once the survey is complete, he would update the PM about the situation. The Chief Minister’s spokesperson said that the special survey would soon be completing following which compensation funds would be released for the affected farmers. The compensation would be provided not only to the farmers but also to those whose houses have been damaged.
