PM Modi To Visit Flood Hit Kerala, Over 100 Dead

PM Modi To Visit Flood Hit Kerala, Over 100 Dead Prime Minister Narendra Modi would visit Kerala and undertake an aerial survey of the flood ravaged areas on Saturday, Union Minister K J Alphons yesterday said. PM Modi was expected to reach Kochi today after attending the funeral of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he told reporters. The funeral of Mr Vajpayee, who passed away yesterday, has been scheduled for 4 pm today in Delhi. After an overnight stay at Kochi, the Prime Minister will undertake an aerial survey of the flood affected areas on Saturday, Mr Alphons said. The prime minister has taken a "positive stand" towards the state on relief measures, Mr Vijayan had said on Wednesday after he spoke to him for the second time in the past few days. 25 trains cancelled till Aug 26, Cochin airport to remain shut, 35 NDRF teams have been rushed to state, Rs 8,000 cr damages estimated by the government and 1.5 lakh people have been taken to relief camps so far. -PTC News
