Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday chaired a high-level meeting to review India's coronavirus situation and the COVID-19 vaccination drive in the country. There has been immense criticism by opposition leaders over the handling of the second wave of coronavirus in India, which affected the health infrastructure across the country. On Friday, PM Narendra Modi said that "the pandemic, the worst in 100 years, is testing the world at every step and that there was an invisible enemy before us." India has been reporting over 3 lakh new Covid-19 cases on a daily basis for nearly three weeks. The alarming surge has raised global concerns. The total number of coronavirus cases in India has increased to 2,43,72,907 while total discharges have increased to 2,04,32,898, death toll to 2,66,207, and active cases stand at 36,73,802. PM Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting to review India's coronavirus situation and the COVID-19 vaccination drive in the country. On Friday, India reported 3,26,098 new COVID-19 cases, 3,53,299 discharges, and 3,890 deaths in the last 24 hours. Besides the COVID-19 vaccination and coronavirus situation in India, Prime Minister Modi will also hold a meeting to review preparations to deal with the impending Cyclone Tauktae.
