Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended his greetings to Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on its 99th Foundation Day. PM Modi said in a tweet: “Today, on the 99th Sthapana Diwas of Shiromani Akali Dal, my greetings and best wishes to all their leaders and Karyakartas. One of India’s oldest parties, Akali Dal has always been at the forefront of serving society and raising issues of public welfare.”
He added that “The Bharatiya Janata Party is proud to be a valued friend and ally of the
Shiromani Akali Dal. Our alliance is not merely a political alliance. Together, we have given the people of Punjab development-oriented and compassionate Governments that have transformed many lives.”
Also, Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal said in a tweet, “Today is landmark day for Punjabis.The party which reformed gurdwaras, participated in freedom struggle and led agitations for Punjabi Suba, right to State waters and against Emergency is marking 99th Foundation Day. Let us rededicate to ‘sewa’ of Punjab and Punjabiat.”
“The strength of an org is reflected in dedication of members. Humbled by response of delegates & workers of Shiromani Akali Dal on 99th Foundation Day, I congratulate them on the historic occasion as we move to 2020 centenary,” he added.
