Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday while interacting with gram panchayat members said that the biggest lesson the coronavirus pandemic has taught India is to become self-reliant. PM Modi complimented the gram panchayat members for describing the social distancing in simple words 'Do gaz ki doori' (maintaining distance of two yards) so that people can understand it easily. publive-image "The biggest lesson coronavirus has taught us is to become self-reliant," PM Modi said, adding that it is now important that the villages also become self-reliant for their basic needs. PM Modi said that the coronavirus had thrown up new challenges which the country never faced before. But it also made people learn new things.

publive-image While applauding people for adhering to the lockdown rules, the Prime Minister said it is because of them, (citizens of India) the entire world is talking about how India has responded to coronavirus crisis.

Coronavirus in India

With 1,684 new positive cases, the total number of coronavirus cases in India crossed the 23,000 mark on Friday morning. The number stands at 23,077 while 718 people have died so far, according to the Ministry of Health and Family welfare. The health ministry in the morning update stated that of the total cases, 17,610 cases are still active. Adding, it said that there are at least 77 foreign nationals in the country who are affected by the pandemic. -PTC News-
