PM’s birthday: BJP leaders start Sewa Saptah by meeting patients at AIIMS, sweeping floor

Bharatiya Janata Party chief Amit Shah and party working president J P Nadda launched “Sewa Saptah” by visiting patients at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. They enquired about their health, distributed refreshments and also swept the hospital floor. The Sewa Saptah (Cleanliness Week) is being observed to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17. Welfare activities will be organized as part of the celebrations to be held from September 14 to September 20. Explaining why the PM’s upcoming birthday is being celebrated with Service Week, Union home minister Amit Shah said, “Our PM has dedicated his entire life to serve the nation and work for the poor. So it is appropriate that we celebrate his birthday week as Sewa Saptah.” Also read: Modi transformed Kashi in five years, says Amit Shah BJP leaders hailed the campaign saying that it is in consonance with the ideals of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikaas, Sabka Vishwaas. According to Party MP Meenakshi Lekhi, this would impress upon people the message that the government is here to serve them. “We are here to serve the nation and even birthdays will not be celebrated by sycophancy but by work,” she said. Activities that will be conducted as part of Sewa Saptah include blood donation camps, free health check-ups and distribution of food, among others. PTC News
