Policies of present govt threaten peace : Parkash Singh Badal

Policies of present govt threaten peace : Parkash Singh Badal   Former Chief Minister Sardar Parkash Singh Badal today expressed deep concern over the mounting threat to peace and communal harmony in the state.   “The  tendency of the Congress rulers in the state to encourage, promote and  flirt with enemies of peace for political mileage was pushing the state back to its dark days at an alarming pace,” he saidin a statement here this evening.   Mr Badal condemned the blast at Amritsar today and said that he had been cautioning the rulers and the people of the state against the rising threat to peace and communal harmony in Punjab. He said that the temptation  among the ruling party leaders to use for petty political gains the elements who are openly committed to the ideology of hatred and violence can play havoc with peace and communal harmony in the state. “The powers that be in the state have been secretly and sometimes even openly siding with and helping  elements whose agenda is to divide the people of Punjab along communal lines. Their leaders have been holding secret meetings with the Chief Minister to plot conspiracies against the SAD.  This has made the  situation in the state    extremely dangerous. “ The growing violence in Punjab today is the direct result of the cynical political opportunism of the Congress party in the state and its hobnobbing with the enemies of peace,” said Mr Badal   Mr Badal also condemned the shocking incident of killing Sh Sarwan SIngh, the father-in-law of senior IAS Officer Shri Varun Roozam by unidentified persons near Patiala today In a statement,  the former Chief Minister said that the SAD-BJP government always kept peace and communal harmony in the state as a top priority. “ Suddenly, the priorities changed with the change of the government in the state. The state has witnessed a dangerous drift over the past 22 months.”   Mr Badal said that there have been brazen attacks on police stations under the present regime. Plots of political assassinations have been unearthed but the state government refused to act against those responsible.  There have been credible reports and warnings from sources and persons as highly placed as the Union Home  Minister and the Army Chief about the mounting threat to peace in the state. “As a matter of fact, the situation has deteriorated so dangerously that even the Chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh was forced on record to admit  before the Union Home Minister Shri Raj Nath Singh ji in April this year that extremism  has been on the rise in the tenure of the present Congress government in Punjab. But despite this forced realization, the state govt continues to follow a policy of drift with regard to these dangers and support enemies of peace  just because they with them their shared hatred for SAD. -PTC News
