Punjab government suspends Poonam Kangra from SC commission
Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Sunday approved the suspension of Poonam Kangra as a non-official Member of Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes, following the registration of abetment to suicide case against her.
Following the clearance of the Chief Minister, the State Government has placed Kangra’s membership under suspension with immediate effect.
Disclosing this here on Sunday, an official spokesperson said that the Chief Minister had also ordered an inquiry against the Kangra, who was arrested, along with her husband and son, by the Sangrur Police a few days back.

Currently, they are under 14-day judicial custody at the district jail in Sangrur. Poonam Kangra was appointed the non-official member of the SC Commission on July 4, 2019.
