Prashant Kishor quits as Adviser to Punjab CM ahead of Assembly elections 2022

Kishor had played a key role in uniting the chief minister and now Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu ahead of the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections 2022.

Ahead of Punjab Assembly elections 2022, poll-strategist Prashant Kishor on Thursday quit as an adviser to Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh. He said that he had decided to take a temporary break from an active role in public life.

Prashant Kishore said "As you are aware, in view of my decision to take a temporary break from an active role in public life, I have not been able to take over the responsibilities as your Principal Advisor."

"Since I am yet to decide on my future, I write to request you to kindly relieve me from this responsibility," he said. He further thanked Captain Amarinder Singh for considering him for this position.

Punjab CM had appointed the political strategist as his principal adviser in March this year.

Taking to Twitter, he had said: “Happy to share that @PrashantKishor has joined me as my principal advisor. Look forward to working together for the betterment of the people of Punjab!”

Prashant Kishor had worked with Captain Amarinder Singh ahead of the 2017 elections. The party had won with a majority of 77 seats in an Assembly of 117 members.
