Halwa Ceremony at Finance Ministry before Union Budget 2019-20

The Pre-Budget Halwa Ceremony held at Finance Ministry to mark the beginning of printing of documents relating to the Union Budget 2019-20, here on Saturday. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and others were spotted during the customary pre-budget Halwa ceremony at the North Block in New Delhi. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget 2019-20 on coming July 5, 2019. Also, the budget is going to be the first budget of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government after returning to the power with a massive mandate for the second consecutive term.

The Halwa ceremony is custom before announcing the budget. Basically, it flags off the printing of the documents related to the budget which is going to be presented. The Halwa Ceremony took place at the basement of Finance Ministry’s office in North Block in Central Delhi, where locates the special printing press. The Halwa ceremony took place under the presence of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Afterward, the Finance Ministry officials associated with the printing of the budget must stay inside the office.

The officials would not be able to see the outer world until the budget will be presented in the Parliament of India. The Budget 2019-20 will be presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Lok Sabha on July 5. Nirmala Sitharaman will present Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government first budget after coming to power for the second consecutive term.
