Former MP and senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra filed a complaint in the State cyber crime cell with regard to fictitious and malicious ‘news reports’ ascribed to him which had been disseminated in the social media. He wrote a separate letter to chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh to get this issue investigated thoroughly. The former MP said that he had informed the State Cyber crime cell that false statements were being disseminated on social media in the form of news items which attributed false and baseless statements to him. He said that he had never made these statements and that this campaign was the work of his political opponents who wanted to harm his reputation. Prof Chandumajra also clarified that he was among the first persons to protest against the misdeed of the Dera Sirsa head when he tried to impersonate as the tenth Guru. He said fabricated news items being attributed to him in this regard were aimed at defaming him in the eyes of the Sikh world. He said the fabricated news items had also hurt Sikh sentiments as many people had been misled by the fraudsters. He said those responsible for spreading these false statements should be booked immediately and awarded due punishment.
