Priyanka Chaturvedi joins Shiv Sena
Hours after quitting Congress, Priyanka Chaturvedi joined the Shiv Sena on Friday. Announcing her decision at a press conference along with Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray, Chaturvedi said “Mumbai meri janmbhoomi hi nahi, meri karmbhoomi rahi hai. I thank Uddhav ji and his party for their respect. I have joined Shiv Sena to serve Maharashtra.”
Earlier in the day, Priyanka Chaturvedi quit the Congress party. This came after the Congress party decided to reinstate men who misbehaved with her at a press conference in Mathura some time back.
She wrote in a letter addressed to Rahul Gandhi, “In the last few weeks, certain things have convinced me that my services are not valued in the organisation and that I have reached the end of the road. At the same time, I also feel that more time that I spend in the organisation will be at the cost of my own self-respect and dignity.”
In September last year, some local party leaders had allegedly misbehaved with Priyanka while she was attending a press conference on the Rafale deal in Mathura. Congress had initially thrown them out but recently they were reportedly taken back ahead of Lok Sabha elections 2019.
