Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh is himself unaware about Sikh history, he doesn't even visit Punjab to say the least, said Former Deputy Speaker of Punjab, Bir Devinder Singh on Monday after the deletion of chapters on Sikh Gurus from class 12th history books came into news. Bir Devinder Singh questioned the capabilities of the new chairman of the Punjab School Education Board. He also said that, in no case will people of Punjab let this happen and these books will be bought to ashes if the history in deleted from the books.   He referred to a poem and said, 'if the history of the gurus in Punjab will be neglected then where will the history of the Guru Sahibans be taught?' Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) earlier said that chapters on Sikh Gurus have been "expunged" from Class 12 history books of the state education board, but Chief Minister Amarinder Singh dismissed as "malicious" the opposition party's allegation. PSEB Deletion of 23 chapters on Sikh history, SAD questions SAD spokesman and former education minister Daljit Singh Cheema demanded a high-level probe and stern action against the alleged development in the Punjab School Education Board's Class 12 history books. "It is shocking that the state's own school board has expunged the history makers of Punjab from the history books of Punjab," said Cheema in a statement. There were 23 chapters carrying information about Sikh Gurus, Sikh warriors and historical facts about Punjab in the Class 12 history book, the SAD leader said, claiming the content has been replaced with a half-page description about the glorious period of the Sikh history. -PTC News
