Earlier, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) had slashed the syllabus by 30 percent four months ago.
According to the notification issued by the Punjab School Education Board, the closure of schools this year due to Covid-19 has caused severe damage to the education of the students.
Meanwhile, all the schools in the state have been closed since March, due to the nationwide outbreak of coronavirus including Punjab.
The PSEB syllabus cut was announced as the examination is approaching.
As per the notification, the Board has directed that the schools and teachers would take special care to ensure that the reduced subject was also taught to the students as per the requirement.
The Board also said that besides reducing the syllabus of history and Punjabi subjects, the curriculum of other subjects would also be reduced as well as the format of question papers for the March 2021 examinations would also be changed.
